With enough Conviction, Humans can do Anything

Filipinos are known for their resiliency whenever disasters come in their lives. A lot of documentaries show how Pilipinos never hesitate to set all of these aside and replace the pain with a sincere smile.

The Philippines is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, where countries are vulnerable to volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. The location of the Philippines is also prone to Typhoons, El nino, La nina, etc. Every year our country experiences these disasters. People that live in our country are usually unprepared. Some don't put much effort in preparing for these disasters. Because of the lack of preparation, Pilipinos usually suffer the damage dealt by these calamities. A lot of their property destroyed, but they still manage to smile, even though the damage dealt was critical. They smile to show how eager they are to recover from the disaster though the condition they are in.

We need to stay calm and positive to overcome challenges. Optimism is the key to recovery.

State of the Nation Address 2018

SONA or what is known as the State of the Nation Address is an annual event in a country wherein the president will talk what he is about to pledge himself on different issues and what he is gonna do. We FIlipinos, are still waiting for development in our country. When will our country become stable? When will our country change into a finer one?

Recently, our president, Mr. Rodrigo Duterte had delivered his thoughts on how our country can improve. As the President of the Republic of the Philippines he had mentioned all his and our concerns that are yet to be solved. Our president is asking for our help and support to make all of it possible. And for just about fifty minutes of speaking, our president was able to leave the stage with a pleased audience.

All throughout his speech, he mentioned a lot of issues related in the importance of health, human rights, environment and a lot more such as crimes and laws. President Duterte said, "The war against illegal drugs will not be sidelined. Instead, it will be as relentless as chilling, if you will, as the day it began," this means that he is planning to continue the war on drugs until all drug addicts are arrested. He also stated that our concern is about human rights but his concern is on human lives. In the mind of president Duterte, he just wanted to protect our future especially for the youths in their lives. the war on drugs still continues,he won’t stop fighting for it. Even if there are already a lot of complains about this issue on human rights, that killing is not the solution. Though there a a lot of negative comments on his campaign, he still wants to pursue what he wanted to happen. He wants to protect our future, he wants to make us safe.

Environment related issues are also included in his speech like the Boracay Island issue which is still undergoing restoration. He wanted a real action to keep its beauty, because we are the stewards of our environment. Stopping the Black Sand Mining activity is another plan that our president wanted to do. And also because of the destructive Yolanda Typhoon, he wished for another agency to help us Filipinos at times of disasters which is the Department of Disaster Management.

President Duterte also asked the Congress to give the law that will give workers with short term employment the right contract. This is another issue concerning human rights which pertains about contractualization.  Another common problem is corruption. Where he also directed all government units to implement the act that will fight against it (Ease of doing Business Act). President Rodrigo Duterte noted Mindanao as the Land of Promises, where they are now making steps to meet the promises made by the government for our Muslim siblings

What is a leader without followers? What can a mentor do without a creed? How can we expect for our country to change if we don't support our president. If we work together we can improve our country, we can transform it into a better one.

Nutrition Month

Nutrition month 2018 with the theme "Ugaliing magtanim, sapat na nutrision aanihin."Nutrition is very important to us humans. Since the day we were born, up to know we have always been nutritious. Starting at home, our parents forced us to eat vegetables and fruits to be healthy. They told us we would become strong and big. We would look more youthful, more intelligent and more active. We believed in all of those in such a young age. And now, we are in the right mind and age to know what's beyond the food we eat.

Growing up, we have seen how hard our parents work just to provide us proper nutrition. But sometimes not all the food is eaten. Some of these food get wasted or spoiled but most of these foods were eaten by us. What we failed to realize is that food is not easily made. Farmers work hard in order to give us what we need. The farmers who work hard in order to plant those vegetables and harvest them. The farmers who dedicated so much of their time just to produce livestock for the whole population.

This year's nutrition month celebration is "Ugaliing magtanim, Sapat na nutrisyon aanihin.," which is centered to family home gardening. We should not just depend on farmers. What if they get tired? What if there will be no more farmers in the future? Farmers are still humans, they have limits, they are not machines.  Imagine a world without them. Who would plant the vegetable that we need? Who will take care of them? Who will harvest them?We should try to learn and do home gardening in our family. This will not only help our farmers but it will also benefit so that we can save money for buying food. Thus, it will also be a way for our family to bond with each other.

We should start planting and start making a change. We should influence other people to do the same. We should help one another, together we can make a nutritious community. There is more to see in family home gardening. We just need to open our eyes and wake up. We can make a change.
